I almost forgot I had this thing
Tomorrow is Nisa's 20th birthday!! Happy B-day Nisa!

I got into San Antonio on Wednesday and ever since I've been having such a hard time adjusting. I can't sleep normally, and I feel like I've developed an allergic reaction to being here: the dry pollen-filled air, the fucking hot weather, just the smell of my own house makes me sneeze almost constantly.

Yesterday was my brother's graduation from 8th grade. It was so cute to see him in his tuxedo at the ceremony and I am so proud of him. He is way smarter than me (hard to believe, I know) and he's always done it on his own, no help from mommy like Anisa has. My parents are making him go to a high school that he doesnt really want to go to, mostly because none of his friends are going there, but I'm hoping he'll deal with it well.

My experience with Catholic schools leads me to believe that they are highly overrated and that high tuition costs dont necessarily equate to a high quality of education. If anything, I felt like the huge stress put on Jesus, God and all the uniforms, rules about how to sit, stand, act, etc. took up a big chunk of time that gave us an idealistic perspective of the real world. Dont get me wrong, I think learning about God is great, but Im just not sure I agree with having it incorporated into a school curriculum. My mom asks if I will be sending my future children to Catholic school and I honestly dont know. I've seen kids from public and private and they all seem the same to me. And I really dont think its possibly for kids to fully accept Catholic school's ideas if mom and dad dont believe it themselves.

I found a new singer that I like and her name is Maria Mena. I also enjoy listening to the new Beck CD.

Im heading back to LA on May 31st. Its crazy but initially I didnt feel like coming home at all this summer. But now that Im here I dont really want to leave. I will be moving into a new apartment this June/July and so I figured I'd spend some time packing and moving stuff into my new place before my job starts.

I did great this last semester. I am so grateful b/c now I get to stay at SC and keep my scholarship! I know my granny was helping me out on this one. God, I miss that woman.

    update
So i decided to move away from xanga because it was just time for a change. I can't believe school is almost over for the year! Its so surreal. I am pretty satisfied with my academic performace this semeseter, but finals are always hard to get through. I hope that I am able to get off probation and that I get to keep my scholarship for next year.

I will most likely be working at UCLA this summer doing Nanomanufacturing research and getting paid! I am really exciting to be building tiny things. I will also be getting used to living in Westwood, which I'm really excited about. I have two interviews this week for other things though: Wed. is LA Waste Management (dealing with shit, eek) and the Friday one is Dow Chemical (my personal fav cuz I already know my boss). We'll see what happens!

Flo and I are doing awesome. He is so sweet and great and amazing, there just arent enough good words to describe him. And his parents like me, I think. And his sisters are nice to me. And I just love him. So yeah, he's up for this job in San Diego for Northrup and I really hope he gets it cuz he wants it so bad.

I have one more midterm left before finals, so once I get through it, it's party time! Im running for president of SHPE, the Hispanic engineering club I've been really involved with. Voting ends on Thurs April 14th, so by then we will know if I've won! Flo is also running for VP so I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope he gets it too.

I have become obsessed with the Apprentice on NBC. I am taking notes being "project manager" since I wanna be president of SHPE and I need to learn these things. My favorite person on the show is Tana, because she is funny and smart and a good leader. She kicks ass and I really hope that a girl wins the Apprentice this year!

So much to do to prepare for the week. Until next time...
